I got my first car a few weeks ago and thought it would be cool to get a picture with it. I also wanted to try out some new gear to make sure it all worked good. I also wanted to try out a few new things in photo shop. Heres what I came up with. Its a bit of a joke with the text haha

It's fun to do stuff like that! I have that same tripod and ball head. Looks good man. ;)

Corey! I love it man, very inventive. And congrats on your first car! And you can actually pick up a girl in that thing...unlike the Ford Fairmont I started out with.
The comp looks great, how many elements are there total, or is it just one backdrop? Is it stock or did you shoot it? What technique/brush did you use to paint in the smoke, it's got an interesting effect.
You're going to have mad skills in a few years. Keep experimenting.

Thanks guys. Its a total of 3 different shots I took yesterday. I shot myself next to the car first, then lit the car up a little different for another shot. Then I drove into town and shot the background. The background is an hdr. I did a few luminosity mask adjustments to the tones. If you count the smoke its another 2 photos. I just grabbed a picture I took of a sky and masked out the blue. Then made a few different layers messing around with different blending modes and got the smoke look. I added a little more smoke by making a new layer and going to render clouds. They were more of filler clouds because I don't think they look as good.
Thanks again every one!

If you're first dabbling around with compositing then you have a bright future!
Your typography isn't as strong as your photo/compositing skills. I'm trying to imagine it without the font and I'm thinking I like it more.
A rule of thumb I use while shooting cars is seperation between the tire tread and the wheel well, otherwise there is a vague blob in the tire region. Aiming a light at the tires 2-3' off the ground sould remedy that.
Key thing with compositing is getting the light sources, shadows, and angles to be nearly the same. Easier said than done. A lot is just messing around for hours and getting it just right.
Here are a few of my composites:
lol, and oh yea, the REAL Fast & Furious cars :)

Wow those are really cool too look at! Thanks for the tips, yes I know my v6 mustang is no fast and the furious car, its missing the lambo doors,3 nos tanks, etc haha Maybe a cold air intake in the future but thats about it haha
Did you shoot all the stuff?

The F&F cars are getting better and better after each installment :)
I'd pimp that blue Skyline anyday!
I shot all but the model in my examples, I'm more of a photoshop wizard.
But I'm working on that ;) I just got my AB1600s delivered today!

Very nice work, Clint! I love the color tones you've created. It really brings that almost fantasy feel to it that delivers it much stronger than if the composites were done in their natural color tones. I think I just learned something from seeing these shots to apply to my future shoots with using more color effects and transitions. Good on ya!

A quick question about how you did the sky in that first one. Did you just use a brush and paint in that big white soft high light in the sky? I see a lot of people do that now that I look for it. its pretty cool, it keeps the background contrasty but simple.

Ya it's a "white blob" as I like to call it lol.
basic white brush then transformed horizontally if I remember right.
Lately it's been getting out of hand by flickr fanboys, so I try to use it in moderation.
I wouldn't say it's contrasty, I'm going more for a gradual gradiation of color

Clint's just being modest, he's more than just a photoshop wizard, and his photography is already great....and he's the best art director I've worked with so far, and I've worked with A LOT of art directors. Sucks to have all them skills, eh? :poke:
