Hiya
im really interested in buying the downloads well the dvds actually but ill prob get ripped off on the custom tax to UK so thinking of buying the downloads! just few questions
I have photoshop 8 only does this matter? ive been told photoshop 8 doesnt have surface blur tool and that i need to upgrade will i be able to learn stuff on the dvds properly with this version?
Also i only know very basic stuff on photoshop as i have only just started to learn will i be able to follow the dvds as i get abit lost with the layer stuff etc as most people on other tutorials dont talk through how to do things so its hard to know how to get things done the same way lol
Also i mainly want to learn the maxim style plastic skin effect lol and adjusting colours etc will the tutorials teach me that?
and last question if i was to buy the downloads how quickly do i recieve them and are they available for life or do they expire? thanks so much xx

These are some of the exact questions i had, and to be honest the tutorial covers all of that, while allowing you to incorporate it into your own style. I think elements 8 has everything you need also. I knew almost NOTHING about CS4 , and now i m very comfortable using it, it goes thru the basics you need and makes it really simple. I HIGHLY recommend this series....Larry
You will get a confirmation email with your code , which i got pretty quick, and you can start downloading then.....I m not sure about the expiration though

Thanks for your questions. I'll be happy to answer them.
Photoshop 8 is actually CS1 (they starting using the "Creative Suite" renumbering after Photoshop 7), and we don't use surface blur, so yes, everything we teach in the series can be done on your version of PS.
Many international customers have chosen to just receive the download for exactly the reason you stated. Unfortunately, we have no control over customs taxes outside the US, so please pick whichever version works best for you.
If you chose the download option, the links will be sent to you immediately, and you can download them right away.
For Maxim-style retouching, I can honestly say I don't think there's anything better. I was the head photographer for Maxim en Espanol for two years, and I've also shot for Maxim US, UK, Mexico, France, and India. I've used these techniques on all of those issues.
Hope that helps, and let me know if I can answer anything else!

Absolutely. The first disc/Level is specifically designed to get everyone up to speed, especially newer artists. As long as you've actually used Photoshop once or twice in your life, you'll pick this up very quickly. Many of our members have commented on how this series is so different from others because we actually "hold your hand" through the process.
I also designed the series in 6 Levels so that you can digest it as slowly (or quickly) as you like. If you get lost, simply go back to the previous level, and do a "refresher" course.

I am a new photographer and I am looking to buy the DVD set, but I do have a question. I have CS3, do I need to purchase any special filters or plug-ins or can I master the techniques with just CS3? Also, will there be a mastering photography dvd set available soon? I look at your work and I think, man, I am light years away from achieving this type of quality.

Hey EMM,
You're in great shape, because I've designed the series to work with versions of Photoshop as old as PS7 (older than CS1). Also, no plug-ins or filters are required for any of the techniques. Mastering Retouching teaches you a different way to use the most basic tools in Photoshop to achieve amazing results. I think one of the reasons this series is getting such positive customer feedback is that nearly anyone with any system and any skill level can master these techniques.
As far as the photography DVD, it is definitely in the planning stages, but I will likely get PhotoKamp off the ground first, where I'll have classes of 12-15 photographers come and shoot with me first hand, both in the studio and on location, with pro models. We'll talk about lighting and business and all that good stuff. There are a few threads in General Discussion, just do a search for PhotoKamp and they'll come up.
Hope that helps!

hey nick & other forum members (:
i followed all these threads for like weeks and i visit the mastering retouching site every day to watch the sample video and read everything else. and i'm not kidding.
i absolutely love the idea of a dvd set like this. big thumbs up for you and your work nick! for my birthday, which will be in 6 weeks, i want to buy the series. the only problem is that i live in germany, and i don't know that much about shipping costs.
how much does the package weight? and as a result how much do i have to pay on top? because 250€ is a big thing for me [ i am a student but i want this series! ]
i also hope that i'm in the right thread, because it has something to do with dvd box or download..so it should be fine :)
greetings from germany,

Hey Heinz,
Thanks for the kind words, and Happy early Birthday! The DVDs are being printed over the next two weeks so I won't have the exact weight until the PhotoshopWorld conference, around March 24.
Your best move is to e-mail me closer to when you are ready to purchase the series and I will try to figure out the best option for you. Unfortunately, Germany's VAT (which we have no control over) is very high (20%!), and when added to the cost of the DVDs has been making the price too high for some German customers. I'm trying to find ways to either remove the VAT or have it dissolve into other costs. That said, I have no idea what kind of customs taxes Germany will charge you when the package actually arrives...I'll start getting feedback from customers once the DVD boxes ship at the end of March.
Just send me a message here when you're ready to go and we'll work out the details.
