HEY NICK...I WAS LOOKING AT SOME OF YOUR WORK AND THIS GUY IN NEW YORK NAME Alexandre Saveliev. I HAVEN'T START SHOOTING YET BUT WHAT IS YOUR DEFINTION OF A FASHION PHOTOGRAPHER AND WHAT MAKES ONE A FASHION PHOTOGRAPHER VERSUS BEING AN EYE CANDY GLAMOR PHOTOGRAPHER? I LIVE IN LOUISIANA AND TO MY KNOWLEDGE...THERE AREN'T ANY "FASHION PHOTOGRAPHERS" NO WHERE AROUND HERE! SO I COULD DOMINATE THE MARKET! WHAT ARE YOU THOUGHTS ON FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY? THANKS

Fashion photography means different things to different people.

To people studying photography, it's the "respectable" career they all want to have before they realize fashion doesn't pay what it used to, or just how fiercely competitive that world is. To others, it's a way of distinguishing themselves as artists (as opposed to other style of photography). Literally speaking, however, fashion photography is photography that showcases fashion (clothing, shoes, accessories), often through the use of creatively posed models.

The truth is, no one will care how you market yourself if you are good.

When I started Slickforce, I went after non-white models, because no one was marketing to them. So I designed a style that focused on women of color, and it grew to include everyone. If you see a niche in your area, you should jump on it.
